Hi Everyone
Am going home to caravan this afternoon. All tests completed and don't have to come back for another 6 months. After being told last October that I needed the Endarterectomy - I should never have been told that I needed it!! The person who is mistook for being Dr Joanna, is no longer here!! And as most of my problems are in the distal parts, it wouldn't do anything to cure that!! Am annoyed that I have spent last 4 months worrying about it before reaching my decision that I was not going to have it done, when I needn't have, but that Dr is no longer here!! I am greatly relieved about that, and they are happy for me to go and carry on as I have been doing, except for increasing diuretics. I also have to go and see a Rheumatologist in Plymouth, to see if there is anything happening after them finding certain antibodies in blood tests. I am so thankful that I pushed to come to Papworth, as it is the best hospital I have ever been in, and I understand a PH unit is being set up in Plymouth, under the care of Dr Joanna, which is good news for those of us in the West Country. Am off to a rally this weekend with the band, and next month hope to have a "blow" with them, at their next engagement. Having a few days in Bristol next week and will get home Saturday next week. Hope everyone enjoys the extended Bank Holiday weekend and that the weather stays dry!! Margaret |

Do enjoy your blow! I know you've been looking forward to that ages.
And how nice that your mind is now at rest that you made the right decision not to have the op!!! Don't fret about the silly woman. It would have been worse the other way round. At least this didn't impact your physical health and now you're a happy bunny. Just shows, things can always be worse we have to be thankful for small mercies.
Most of us had had some doctor or other tell us some nonsense. Welcome to the club.

Wonderful news for you Margaret but it just makes me feel more insecure about doctors and their plans for us. we put our trust in them and what they decide they want to do for us - what if you had said 4 months ago that you did want that Endarterectomy and they proceeded - makes me feel very insecure. I am so glad that you dont have to have the op.
Have fun in your travels xxxxxxxxxxxxxx and have a good blow xxxxxxxxxxx

That is great new Margaret and you must be very pleased you don't have
to go back for 6 months, and I agree Papworth is a marvellous hospital.
Annie** it would not have been 1 doctors decision to proceed with a PTE it
would have been a team of doctors, and then a meeting with the surgeon,
before the decision was made.
Well Margaret hope you do get to have a blow and you hit all the right notes
Take care
Rita x

Thank you everyone - your support is really appreciated. I know it would have been more than one Drs decision before the operation would have proceeded, but I am just shocked that a Dr could say what she did to me, in October!! Good job I didn't let her make me cancel my holiday, as I would have been annoyed about that!!!
I do know, from Dr Joanna, that there is a nodule showing on my Lung CT's which they are not sure what it is, but on the CT this week, it is no bigger, but they will scan lungs every 12months to watch for any changes. It could be due to a number of things. I have definitely got to go and see a Rheumatologist when we get home, as there are 2 sorts of antibodies in my blood, which are indicators of some sort of Rheumatological disorder - I know I have joint problems, and have had for many years but they were reasonably well controlled by anti inflammatories. Since they were stopped by Papworth last October, I certainly know about it as my joints have really been playing up!! Hope everyone enjoys this long bank holiday weekend Regards Margaret |

Rita I know that operations are properly scrutinized by more than one person - what i am on about is the fact that very often we are told different things by different doctors - everything is just their opinion and nothing more.
