Hi George
I am sure you have nothing to worry about. They may see how far you can walk and see what type of things you can do and cant do. Please dont stress over this you shall make your self worse than what you are. Take care and let us know how it goes please. Karen ![]() |

I think that I'd go there armed with a doctors letter and test results. Also, whatever they ask, always describe your worst possible day.

my advice if you go for any medical or form filling, tell them how you are on your worst possible day, also would be a good idea to ring up the ph office, and ask if they can advise you on what to say ,and if you could have a letter from your ph hospital im sure that would be a great help, hope all goes well for you and do let us know how you get on love Debbie x

Hi George
Good luck on Tuesday, and hope that it's not too stressful on you, it's bad enough living with our condition, never mind having to sit in front of others an explain how we are affected by PH in our daily lives. Wish you well George, let us know what we are all in for won't you? Regards ... Joe.

hi George - as others have said tell it like how you are affected on your worst days.
what makes you have a bad day ??? for me its going shopping and the next day i am a washout --------- sooooooooo if i was going somewhere like that on Tuesday i would go on a mega shopping trip on monday so they would be able to see how washed out you are. but i wouldnt tell them it was a bad day.

Well hello all i think the medical went well, basically they just asses you on the form you send in plus a report from the your doctors and of cause your answers at the so call medical ie whats your condition, how does it effect you in everyday life washing, dressing, stairs and work their way onto shopping, the simple answer is i dont do it, then what do you do in the day.
The test bit was rediculouse, stand straight hands above your knees then lower to floor and back up once, bend to side left then right with pointed finger to touch the floor then take shoes and socks off lay on bench to check ankles then left leg then right bend knee towards chest straighten then back down followed by slightly bending your knee upwards then bending out to the side left then right, blow into a tube see stars medical over, dont get the test? then just to keep you stressed you wont get their decision for 3 to 4 weeks as theres a backlog

Hi George
Bet you're glad it's over, for the time-being. Sounds like you experienced the same type of medical which the DWP doctor did when we filed a Med-Form 4. they already have this information on us, so it beggars belief that they test us again, perhaps they're anticipating a cure for PH (they say miracles can happen) ![]() Out of interest George, was the person who examined you a qualified doctor or a 2 day trained person? Congratulations on being the first of many to be tested. Hoping the decision is in your favour ... best regards ... Joe. |

Hi Joe,no it wasn,t a doctor it was a woman who told me she was a nurse?i reckon she looked it up in a book before i wen,t in? though it was funny when she tried to type thromboendarterectomy and was stumped for a bit finding bosentan in the medication book. The entertainment of the morning was seeing some of the others waiting ie bone idle, lazy bones and a woman with the most amazing limp who i,d seen going in and out of shops happily strolling on my journey from the car park.Yes im glad its done but not with the wait for the decision grrrrr george

Well I think that among other things maybe she was checking to see if your ankles were swollen, how breathless you are, etc. I suppose that they have to do something to justify their existence.
Between you, me and gatepost, I don't think it makes one iota of difference if its a nurse, a GP or a kidney specialist. They probably all know about the same about PH.

Hello everyone i can now update you all,had the phone call i,ve been waiting for the past 3 weeks ie the decision?as explained to me over the phone the employment and support allowance, they will put you in one of the catagories,if its employment you are called in to job centre plus for an interview with an adviser to help to decide what you could do and find you a job plus any help you would need to do it but if they put you in support you won,t be called in by job centre plus and you will carry on getting the benefit you are on only its called employment and support allowance instead of incapacity benefit.
Well they have put me in the support catagory which is a relieve,i can now get destressed ttfn george
