I have been given a free stall for a week for 'Folk Week' in Broadstairs for 'PUCKERUP4PH'.; right on the harbour. It is from the 6th to 13th August.
I already have sent many E mails out to people that I know to help me on the stall for a few hours, but, alas, no volunteers have replied.
If there is anyone out there from Kent who would be interested in helping me, I would be so grateful.

Lu I would have helped but am in Spain. You really do need a few of you make it easier. It takes longer than you think to do each one. Try chatting to paul he may know of someone who doesnt use the board but would help. He is the font of all knowledge!! Good Luck xxx

Family and friends? Also, I think you could contact your local paper, tell your story & the blue lips, and ask for volunteers to help with the stall.

Lu Lu,
What about asking the senior scouts or guides if they would help as part of their community service and there may be help from Rotary, Apex or Lions international service groups if you ask them. Just a thought. I'm in the same boat where I live in Australia as there really is only my husband and myself. Joan in Australia ![]() |

I find that young people are really keen to help with the blue kisses.
Another idea, put a note up in the library.

Hi
I hope you are able to get some volunteers to help you as you will definately need help!! I had my first "Pucker Up" day at my day centre, last Friday. Hubby came along to help, and I would really have struggled without him to help people fill out, and sign, the forms. I took box of cotton buds, and put the lipstick onto those, but let people put it on their own lips!! Warning, when it gets warm, the lipstick goes rather gooey!!! If you have a small cool bag then keep spare lipsticks in it until you need them. I also collected over £20 in donations for PHA, and we all enjoyed ourselves. Good luck with nyour collecting. My next place for collecting them will be in Scotland in 2 weeks, when I am hoping to get all the members of the brass band I play in, and their families, to join in and give me more "Blue Lips"!! Regards Margaret |

I used the cotton buds too and they were better. I also used blue face paint rather than the lippie it printed better and one pot is still going strong after 350 lips. Fold the form in half too!! Hope you get the help u need. x

Hi Lulu
I do hope you get some volunteers too. Have you tried your GP practice as these days they often have 'Friends of ____ surgery" group and maybe they could help you. Or ask at your local hospital, church, even the older womens groups like the 'townswomens guild' 'womens institute' or even the volunteer group in kent ---- http://www.volunteercentreskent.org.uk/RunScript.asp?p=ASP\Pg0.asp
Just a thought

Thank's Stella. I am hoping the church let me do a practice run for 'PUCKERUP4PH' on Sunday. As for my doctor's surgery, they are not very helpful. |

Yes, I use cotton buds too and also give people wet wipes to get rid of it. Kids like to leave it on
Margaret, the brass band idea is a great one. Similar to one my group were tossing around recently. See if they'll all agree to go up on stage with blue lips (and wipes for before they start blowing away) and the conductor make an announcement abt the campaign and then do the blue lips on the audience during the interval and/or someone go around with a bucket for donations.

Actually just thought of something. Most of us have probs getting volunteers to help us. There we are, the "walking wounded" putting in hours of tiring effort and healthy people just blow us off.
Amazing we're so keen and yet some of us have difficulty getting help for the easiest of things.

Miriam you are right. Its because we know what its like to suffer, to feel awful and we want to help others in the same position. Most people`s idea of suffering is losing there mobile phone!!! Its also a fact sadly that our country as become a very selfish place where people are only interested in themselves and there own lives. PH is a terrible illness but its obvious from this site that one positive thing about the illness is that it brings out the very best in people.

Lets be very honest - if we or a loved one didnt have PH would we be on this site, would we want to raise funds for a disease that we have never heard of. Its the same the world over, not just in this country. Sad but true
