DRUM ROLL PLEASE...........................

DDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDD

...

AS OF TODAY I'M OFFICIALLY GOING ON THE HEART AND LUNG TRANSPLANT LIST Big smile

It has been the most stressful 3 days of my life but totally worth it in the end.

Day One :- This consisted of me doing a lot of tests, which included a lung function and walk test which I
did Abysmally on, which was exactly what I expected as I have felt myself getting loads worse in the past 6 months as I've had to go back on oxygen sometimes which I gave up when I was 15 as I never wanted to become dependant on it.

Day Two:- This day was alot of talking I met up with Dr Parma and Richard (transplant co-ordinator) who explained alot of stuff and answered a tonne of questions, the only thing I'm still a bit off on is why someone who needs a heart and is on the critical list takes priority over someone who needs heart and lungs who could be just as critical but they just don't have a critical list for heart and lung patients. That just seemed a bit odd to me :-/. But after that they said they wanted to do the transplant but they were worried about my vocal chords because they sound damaged so they needed to check on them which they did today.

Day Three:- Today they did a Bronchoscopy to check on my vocal chords, and they discovered that my right one is working fine but my left one is just a bit lazy  and the right is having to over compensate for the left but this isn't enough to make them worry and they will be happy to do a transplant :-). woop

So, so happy and I feel like a weight has been lifted off my shoulders
All I have to do now is go back in a few weeks and meet a surgeon as one was checking an organ and the other was stuck in surgery today. Then all I have to do is fill out a tonne of paperwork and all is good.

I will keep you all updated
Stacie xoxo

Hi guys,

Thank you, I was in a happy bubble all week, so unbelievably chuffed. I told my work today and they seemed surprised about how excited I was about it, but I don't think anyone understands that by maybe getting a transplant it means I have the potential to live a lot longer than I do now. It's pretty hard to explain to people.

In the 3 days I was there the people at Papworth was sooo lovely and I can safely say I won't mind going to them for the rest of my life :-D.

Hi Stacie
I too think you are an inspiration to everyone else suffering from PH - you have had to make decisions that would be so hard to make for many of us much older to make, and you are facing everything head on, for one so young. Hopefully you will be an inspiration to other youngsters who might face this and help them to make the right choices.
Yes staff at Papworth are alllovely, and nothing is too much trouble for them. The medical care is brilliant, the nursing care is, and the domestic staff keep every where spotless - just how every hospital should be!! Did you go and see the black swan whilst you were there?? He is such a handsome one, and very chatty if you talk to him!! Honestly it is not my low oxygen making me tell porkies!!
I shall be watching for your updates, and follow them when we are away on our travels.
Luv
Margaret

Hi Stacie, good news, it wont be long now before you see the surgeon and get listed. The surgeon I saw was Mr Dunning, he told us there had only been 5 heart and lung transplants in the UK last year and he had done them all. I hope he isn't on his holidays when its both our turns!

Hey,

I did get to see the swan while I was there Margaret he was stealing food from the ducks while I was there LOL. My dad spent loads of time at the pond area I hink he wanted me to be on a ward that faced it but unfortunatley not LOL.

I was meant to meet them last week but as surgeons are busy people I didn't but I'm really looking forward to meeting them. Haha lol yes hopefully he will be there when it's our turn that will probably make me feel more confident :-).
