HRT and PH

Hormone replacement therapy (HRT) is used to replace the natural hormones that stop being made in women when they go through the menopause. It is normally used to improve symptoms of the menopause such as hot flushes.

It is not very clear whether HRT should be used in women with pulmonary hypertension (PH) after the menopause. The general consensus is that HRT should only be used if symptoms such as hot flushes are becoming intolerable.
