Sponsored Walk - Natalie Archibold
05/09/2009
** Please note: although this event has now finished, Natalie is still looking for sponsors, thank you. **
My name is Natalie Archibald and I am 9 years old in October. I live in Musselburgh and go to Loretto RC Primary School and am going into Primary 5 after the summer holidays.
Two years ago I was diagnosed with a condition called Primary Pulmonary Hypertension which is an incurable disease affecting people of all ages, including babies and small children like me. This condition causes high blood pressure in the lungs, strains the heart and ultimately threatens life. I am very well at the moment due to the excellent care of my favourite doctor, Dr Ingram Schulze-Neick (with me in the photo) and the excellent care of all doctors and nurses in Ladybird Ward of Great Ormond Street Hospital, London.
Last year my Nana (Helen Archibald) organised a sponsored walk from Musselburgh to Longniddry and back (15 miles) and along with friends, family and colleagues we raised the fantastic amount of £8,000. The cash was split in half and £4,000 went to the Pulmonary Hypertension Association to help continued research into my condition and £4,000 to Ladybird Ward, Great Ormond Street Hospital, London for appreciation of my continuing excellent medical care.
Well, we are doing it all again this year on Sunday 6th September 2009 at 10am.
If you would like to join in the walk, or sponsor those doing it, please see my Nana or Mum, Helen or Janis Archibald.
Thank You
Natalie
